The project

A new building with a composite roof that had been installed incorrectly and leaked from day one. Many attempts to fix it had failed.

It shows what can go wrong when work is not installed correctly: the wrong contractor can mean a huge amount of extra cost, wasted time and pressure on everyone affected by the failures.

We worked directly for the architect, and as principal contractor we installed a complete overclad system on the nearly new building, to the specification and industry standards, in five weeks.

The challenge

A tenant in full operation

All the work had to be done with the tenant in place and their business in full operation. As principal contractor, we prepared a construction phase plan that catered for everyone on site, and oversaw and organised all the works, including access scaffolding and roof safety netting.

Scaffolding went up and came down over weekends to work around the tenant. Our site and team managers ran the job, and all lifting was done with our own 30m rotating telehandler.

The result

Leak free, at last

The building now has a leak-free roof with a 25-year material warranty. The project was completed without issue, and the site was handed back spotless on handover day.
