Tasked with the refurbishing of a very tired industrial unit.
Previously this unit also had received two extensions, the first to one of the gables and another on the rear elevation. A consequence of these additions Left the elevation block work in a very untidy condition and difficult to work with.
The existing 1970s asbestos cement roof had failed, and therefore it was necessary to strip and dispose of the old asbestos roof completely and replace it with a new coated steel composite system, insulated to meet current building regulations the project included replacing the old roof lights with new, fire regulation & H&S compliant, factory assembled ones. The old asbestos sheets were removed to a bonded skip & disposed of at a certified location.

The high-level elevation cladding was also completely removed, with new white lining sheets installed. Over the lining sheets, new spacer bars are fitted into the current steel purlins. To provide a nice clean look to the elevation that lined through on a single plain & due to the uneven blockwork below it was necessary to vary the depth of the galvanized support framework. Ensuring these lines were clean was a challenge, but one that was worth the additional thought and work.
Once the spacer bar system was in place & lined through, all elevations were insulated and then cladded with new profiled steel sheets.
An interesting project for us which as our client commented: “now looks fantastic”. At Tek Clad Ltd we enjoy the challenge of a project like this which has many different details and obstacles to consider & overcome. The result is a building that now looks brand new and projects the client's required corporate image in a way they can be proud of. The old failing building is no more than a distant memory.
The whole building is now insulated to current building & fire regulations, resulting in a building which is now warm in the winter, cool in the summer dry and leak-free and therefore far more energy-efficient.
