New Shop for Harry’s Cider – Somerset

Tek Clad Delivers Durable, High-Performance Roofing

Tek Clad partnered with Wrencon Ltd, a construction company building domestic, commercial and retail properties in the Southwest for almost 40 years, on the construction of a new tap room and shop for Harry’s Cider Barn in Long Sutton, Somerset. Tek Clad installed roofing panels on the main roof and entrance canopy, complete with expertly finished flashings and gutters, helping create a building that not only looks great, but is durable and energy efficient.

The Client

Founded in 2003 by Harry Fry, who now runs the business alongside his son Toby, Harry’s Cider is an artisan brand, crafting award-winning ciders on the owners’ family farm in Somerset.

The Project

The project involved building a modern, energy-efficient space to house the new shop and tap room. The one-storey building has a pitched roof, which extends to create a canopy at one end to allow for undercover outdoor seating. With a glass-fronted entrance and floor to ceiling windows, the new shop and tap room maximises light, providing and inviting space to showcase Harry’s Cider products to customers and guests. This new build project took some six months to complete in all. The Tek Clad team were contracted to source and install the roofing solutions, working on site for two weeks in September 2024, getting the building weather tight and ready for the internal fit out. The handover of the completed shop and tap room took place in March, ahead of an opening event that month.

The Roofing Solution

The architect requested roofing that was durable, energy efficient, with the right aesthetic for the location and the purpose of the new shop. Tek Clad installed Kingspan KS1000RW composite roof panels – prefabricated insulated panels, engineered for easy installation, low maintenance, and high performance. The panels delivered all the specification requirements, with a streamlined, minimalist look combined with durability and thermal performance, ensuring the finished building is now energy efficient and sustainable. Tek Clad also installed flashings and gutters, completing every aspect of the roof to their characteristic exacting standards. The level of finish not only enhances the look but will serve to extend the lifespan of the roof and building with effective rainwater management.

A Great Result

Jake Elsmore, Director at Wrencom, said: “A huge thank you to Ian Hambidge M.I.o.R. and the entire Tek Clad team! Collaborating on this project was truly rewarding, and the final result speaks for itself.

“Construction projects thrive on teamwork, and we're proud to partner with exceptional local sub-contractors who share our commitment to delivering the highest quality standards.”
